I'm having difficulty with YouTube posted links. They don't show as a normal YouTube start screen.
This is not a PC problem - I have no problems with streaming video or my normal YouTube account ... just the links here.
Any idea? |

| you have to copy the "embed" information for the Youtube video instead of the link information and then paste it into your post. That way the regular play screen shows up in the post instead of just the link. Take a close look at the Youtube video next time and you can find the "Embed" information right under the "URL" information. |

| The problem is not to embed videos. The problem is that we cannot see the starting screen of the video. Instead, there is only a white rectangle. |

Can you guys give me an example, please. I'm seeing all the videos embedded without a problem.
If you are only seeing text check your profile settings.
I'll post this link again, please do look at it carefully, including the 4th post down which instructs how to check your forum profile settings are correct..

I have both the BBCode and HTML checked YES in my profile.
A potential source of the problem can be that I use the SubSilver Shadow style and not the AdInfinitum. |

I'm not sure what to suggests. The embedded vids work for me on all types of forum - I just tried SubSilver again and they still load (albeit very slightly slower).
If you are just seeing text instead of the a video box it's most likely your profile settings.
But if you are seeing a blank rectangle then I'm not sure what's up at the moment.. it would be interesting to here if anyone else has a similar problem. |

Mine work in all forum styles too.
Suggestions:
- Clear your browser cache and refresh the page.
- Are your browser installations up-to-date?
- Are your installations of Adobe Flash Player up-to-date? (I have version 10,0,45,2 installed) |

I found the problem as well as a solution. The problem appears if you load the page through a proxy.
Hence under Firefox, perform the following task:
(1) Click Edit -> Preferences -> Advanced -> Network -> Settings
(2) Change the proxy setting to "No Proxies" or "Automatic detection ..." (the second is better).
For other browsers, find the proxy configuration and change it accordingly. |

When I'm home in Beijing I get a blank white box - I've always assumed that is because my commie overlords ban You Tube, Facebook, and many other social media sites. When I'm outside China the imbedded video clips show up fine.
I've been meaning to get a proxy account for months now in order to get around the government roadblocks, but procrastinating as usual. But with the authorities now attempting to cut me off from even the occasional Filipina ladyboy "tourist" by blocking Vice Sisters they have pushed me TOO FAR .
I am counting on using a proxy server to solve all my censorship problems, so I am concerned by the following comment by Bullseye:
| Quote: |
| The problem appears if you load the page through a proxy. |
So a request for help from the more technically minded BM's - if I start surfing thru a proxy will I be able to check out the clips here? |

| Crackerjax, check bullseyemaco's post - he gives a solution that should work. Give it a try and see what happens. |

I saw his solution Rx - that's what concerns me. I need a proxy to see You Tube in China, but if I understand Bullseye correctly, I need to disable the proxy in order for You Tube to work on the Forum. See where I'm coming from?
Of course it would be best to just give it a try - but that would require me to stop procrastinating and actually get a proxy. |
