Strange (reverse) request.
Which hotel would you take your missus from back home if she was visiting Bangkok, Pattaya and Phuket?
Obviously this time you're wanting somewhere where you're unlikely to bump into someone you know in the lift or lobby.
I know all the hotels which are 'guest friendly' etc but don't know where to go to illude the sex industry. I'm attracted to it like a magnet.
My wife wants to visit on holidays, and I want to keep her well away from the 'bar scene'. I want her to have the impression there's no sex industry in Thailand and its all media hype.
Any ideas? |

Hi Brit,
When I've had the pleasure of my wife's company in Thailand, I have tried to go a little bit upmarket, and stayed at the following places;
Bangkok: The President Solitaire
Pattaya: Pattaya Marriot Resort & Spa (joined to the Royal Gardens Shopping Mall)
Phuket: Patong Villa
Just avoid the Nana Hotel in BKK & The Penthouse in Pattaya at all costs !
Many years ago, I made the mistake of booking a room at The Rajah hotel, what a fucking dump !
Cheers

Thanks for the tips Koykaeng, The wife's over for almost two months !! So going upmarket isn't too much of an option.
I'll need to select somewhere mid-range. Probably around 1,000 to 1,500 baht per night.
Actually I'm planning to have her stay at the beach most of the time, and I can play inland - probably I'll stay mostly in Bangkok.
So looking for mid-range, with pool and baht bus walking distance.
But when i visit - its more family orientated place - no bar girls wandering around.
Any ideas? |
