Hello members

My flight to BKK is booked for May 17 but I would much appreciate some help choosing between one of these two hotels?

Does one have to shower in the bathtub for all single rooms at the Majestic Suites? Or do the more expensive rooms have a separate shower?

Is it fair to say that the Majestic Suites is closer to public transport (e.g. airport bus, Skytrain) but that the Dynasty is closer to the action?

Which has the better breakfast?

Why do you prefer one hotel to the other? Or do the pros and cons of each just cancel each other out?

Thanks

Den

I find the Majestic Suites is better than the Dynasty Inn, but the Dynasty Inn Grande is much better than both of them.

There are several threads covering these hotels with heaps of info and pictures.

In terms of distance/position, the Majestic Suites and Dynasty Inn are literally within a stones throw of each other, so no difference there. The Dynasty Inn Grande is about 250 yards further away from the action and skytrain, but it;s only a 5 minute walk and definitely worth it.

Standard rooms at the Majestic Suite are just too small. Deluxe rooms are much better although one still has to shower in the tub.

Since the refurb, I have not stayed at the Dynasty Inn.

I haven't seen the refurbished rooms at the original Dynasty Inn as they were still under construction when I was there late last year.

The majority of us seem to have made the switch to the Dynasty Inn Grande, technically located in Soi 6, but just down from Soi 4. Still walking distance to all the action.

Incidentally Dynasty Inn Grande has a separate shower and bath.

The rooms are a good size, still like brand new and for the money (2280 Baht) represent the best value in town.

As for breakfast, they have a nice enough restaurant, but no buffet.
Actually I still believe the old Dynasty Inn did the best meals around.

Cheers

Many thanks for the replies. Choosing a hotel was usually an agonising process when I travelled to other countries. But the knowledgeable members of this forum have made it easy for me to make my hotel reservations with confidence.

Doesn't look too bad at all, although does appear to be a relatively small hotel.

May investigate further when I'm in town for future reference.

Thanks for the link !

Here's the link to the website;

http://www.dynastyinn.com/

Click on the reservation tab and then select the hotel you want.

Not sure what you mean by "How long can I stay at a time ?"

You can stay as long as you want, providing you have sufficient money and a valid visa. Confused

They will often negotiate a reduced room rate for monthly stays or longer it that's what you have in mind ?

Cheers

I think you may have interpreted the word "Inn" too literally !

Quote:
Inns are establishments where travellers can procure food, drink, and lodging. Found in Europe, they first sprang up when the Romans built their famous system of highways two millennia ago. Some inns in Europe are centuries old. In addition to providing for the needs of travellers, inns traditionally acted as community gathering places.

No Visa required for stays less than 30 days for American citizens.

I have stayed at Majestic Suites and just recently at Dynasty Inn.
Majestic has nicer rooms, but as everyone comments they are small. Not all rooms at Dynasty Inn have been refurbished, mine certainly hadn't, having said that it had every thing you need and was bigger. I would agree with KK the food at Dynasty is good and inexpensive. If your on a budget I would choose the Dynasty Inn, but as other posters rave about the value for money at DIG, choose this if you can, I will next time. But remember the difference in rates is about 1 ST a day Wink
