Taxi from Bangkok to Pattaya ~ LB-69

Can someone please advise what the current rate should be for the journey by taxi from Bangkok to Pattya? Should this also be agreed before entering the vehicle?

Abslolute maximum of 1500 Baht and this should include all express way toll fees.
Definitely agree the price first.

The return fare is rather cheaper, 800 baht plus 130 for tolls (if desired) because many Bangkok taxis are keen to cover their costs on the journey home.

In January I paid 1360 including toll from Airport
1300 from Nana to Pattaya inc toll

Not organising anything last week, I emerged from the airport and actually let a tout finish his sentence. He said the price was 1500 including tolls. I told him I never pay more than 1200, bit of a fib as it was my first time. "OK 1200 include tolls". Going back Meter Taxi 800 including tolls, mind you he managed to get lost!

I also paid 1200, including tolls.

I have also got a card from the guy who took me back for 800B, he charges 1200 from Bangkok for some reason.

PS it seems to be something wrong with bangkok taxi drivers.they just hade Pang Na(sky way).i think they hate sun and just go under it,i guees. LOL

Good point Costas, because unless you emphasize that you wish to take the sky way many of those cheap bastards stick to ground floor route eventhough your negotiated fare included toll fees.

I always give them the toll money seperate, after this very experience. I like to hand them the money at the toll booth.

Generally I spend my first few days in Bangkok, and then rely on the Dynasty Inn free shuttle bus to get me to Pattaya.

This time round I needed to get to Pattaya in a hurry so after reading numerous ladyboy & Pattaya forums and seeing many mixed reports about alot of the transport operators, I decided on Jan whose business card appears below.
Jan was waiting for me in the arrivals area of the new airport (sign in hand), and moments later we were on the way to Pattaya at lightning speed !
Whilst the price was 1600 Baht (Yes I know this is on the high side), the service was excellent, and I would use this Thai lady again.

Anyone got any updated info....Not sure if will spend 1 night in BKK and then go to Pattaya yet or just head straight to Pattaya from BKK airport- flying in on AirAsia from Pattaya

Funny thing is I know that getting to Pattaya from BKK is going to cost more than the flight from Phuket to BKK.

Personally, I'm a big fan of Mr. T's taxi and have used them on my last couple of trips to and from Pattaya.

The prices have been excellent (no more than 1000b, plus toll & tip), and the cars were good too.

Best of all, I had substantial delays on a previous trip, ended up coming in 14 hours late, and the driver was right on time, at the correct place.

It's easy to set up service via email too and the rates specified have always been honored. Check em out!

Thanks Auto, at the moment I am working out if I will end up staying at the Dynasty Inn as never really checked out the LB Scene in BKK just in Pattaya and will be coming from Phuket so BKK for a day/night may be fun before going right back into the deep end at Patts.
