If you are on a tight budget or just fancy a change, catching the bus isn't as bad as it sounds.
I might be wrong but I think it's about 140bht (one way) and a 2 hour ride.
These buses aren't too far off western standards and there are always some over farang on the bus.
They also run at regular intervals and are more reliable than National Express..
I remember Dirty Mike having a money crisis and had to get back to BKK from PATs to get some cash and so caught the bus.
After he said he'd catch the bus everytime, despite being searched at the Bus station for acting suspiciously... |

Where does the bus run from? do you have to find a depot or can you pick it up from the airport.
I will be on the return leg of my trip so may have a cash crisis , I have done some over nighters on Thai buses so a two hour trip wont be too bad. |

The bus station is at Ekamai on Sukhumvit Road in Bangkok a few stops from Nana Station on the sky train.
In Pattaya the Bangkok terminal is on North Pattaya Rd.
From the airport you would use a different direct bus service for Pattaya, although when there is an airport involved I prefer taxis. |

The Busses run from Ekkamai to Pattaya and are non-stop. It's on the skytrain.
You'd have to get a taxi there form teh airport and in the end you wouldn't be saving much money so it's not worth your while. |

Costas's mate Billy provided this information on the Pattaya Chat web site recently and I have copied it to paste here
Here you go ..
I use them at my last trip...
From Airport to Pattaya---8:00, 10:00, 12:00, 14:00, 16:00, 18:00. From Pattaya to Airport---6:00, 9:00, 11:00, 13:00, 15:00, 17:00, 19:00. Travel time, airport to Pattaya or vice versa is about two hours depending on the traffic. The pick up point at the airport is at Level one ( ground floor) at exit number 7. No need to go to the transportation center. You need to call the office for a reservation,Or just call them when you land.. Bangkok number 0-2747-4675 or Pattaya number 038-370-055. The Bell representative will meet you at door number 7 and take you to the bus. Delivery to hote,l all in 150 baht. They will take you to your hotel. Nice buses and very good service at a reasonable price.
Bell Travel services will drop you off at the hotel; this service is already included. rrc_bus@hotmail.com
Plus there is another Bus servis from transporting center... free Express Bus will take you there... |

Thanks for the thorough answers , and sorry for constantly asking questions as I am travelling by myself for the first time in years so want to work a few things out before I go .
Hopefully I will be able to answer other peoples questions later on when I return.
Anyway I will see in what condition I arrive in and make my decision then.
Phil. (hope it helps Pathway too) |

Thanks a lot, it will save much Taxi fit.
When I come back to Airport, I think that I would take Taxi,
because Pattaya-->Airport is much cheaper,
and I can't take any risk for delay and lose my airline... |

| I caught the train to Mo chit, then a cab to Mo chit 2. Said just like it sounds. The bus trip was....75 bht and was about 2 hours and really wasn't that bad. The ticket counter was "downstairs" (i had to go down in an elevator....?) Kinda funny, I had to sit next to some old guy that had his own "seat belt" wrapped around the back of the seat and around his waist. LOL.. but the dummy wouldn't stand up to let me use the toilet and I had to crawl over him..! aarrggg. |
