Ruamchitt Plaza, 1000bht - between sois 13 and 15 on Sukhumvit.
Nicely placed bewteen Nana and Cowboy, and very clean, safe and friendly.
There are a few chepaer, guest house style places if you head down soi 4, had a look at one once, but it wasn't so welcoming.
DM stayed in a place above Guess Bar for a couple of nights, can't remember the price but it was cheap, around 600bht a night. Wasn't too bad for the price.
Personally, I'd try to get your budget to 1500 a night and then you will have quite a few places to choose from, and can expect a much higher quality of room. |

The guesthouse above Guess Bar has nice rooms, probably the best financial deal in that part of BKK - I think its 650 baht a night - but they are spacious, have good powerful showers and are kept very clean. The ST rooms are not the same as overnight - they are unnumbered and they only use the regular rooms a) if the ST rooms are full & b) if the GH rooms are not fully booked.
One interesting fact is that they dont have any windows, which actually makes them very quiet & starbucks for the essential coffee in the morning is 100m away on the corner of Soi 3.
PB hotel off Soi 3 and near to Q Bar is also another good bet - the rooms upstairs (not the ST drive in rooms) are nicely fitted out - similar to any 3* hotel - apart from the smelly carpet in the hallway, its a decent enough cheap product and about 700b a night. This one has a window, but it looks out onto the ST rooms. This hotel has 24hr room service and often has a collection of Eastern European hookers staying there and often found around the coffee shop.
Cheers
Mardhi

Damn you Mardhi, and I thought those rooms upstairs at the PB (PLAYBOY) were one of my very few secrets of Bangkok nightlife.
Fantastic rooms for 700 Baht and as you say Q-Bar close by also Bed Supper Club |

ST BF: 500 baht
The look on their face when you bring them to your room at Landmark...Priceless.

The most girls or ladyboys dont care about if they go with you to the PB Hotel or to the Sheraton Grande. They just care about the money what you pay them after the session.
In my first trips to Bangkok i always booked a 5-star hotel. I stayed several times at the Landmark, Marriott or Sheraton. Now i pay in Bangkok around 1500 Baht per night and the quality of the rooms is absolutely sufficient for me.
But anyway i think i will try the dynasty grande next trip. |
