Mardhi is partially correct. The airport bus does not stop outside the hotel. The hotel is two minutes walk from where the bus stops. So, if you will be travelling with lots of heavy luggage (personally, I travel light) or arriving at night you may prefer the taxi option. Otherwise, read on for my experience of getting to the DIG via the airport bus.

When I eventually got to the public area of the airport terminal I had to wade through a hoarde of taxi and limo touts all offering their services. But when I politely said 'no thanks I am taking the bus', they just accepted it and let me be. One lady tout even helped me with directions to get to the bus desk.

Basically, I had to keep going down the escalators until I reached the lowest level of the terminal. That is where the bus desk is. I had to buy my ticket before I got on the bus. The bus fare is (or was last month) 150baht.

When I got to the desk they asked me which area I wanted to go to. I just said 'Sukhumvit Road' - which turns out to be the E3 route. (There is also a simple display by the desk of all the bus routes.) They also asked me where I wanted to get off before the bus left the airport. It is very important to tell them Soi 6 and not the bus terminal like Mardhi suggested.

The driver makes a note of where everyone is getting off so there is none of that anxiety about will the driver remember me.

I travelled in an air-conditioned airport bus which was comfortable and there were plenty of free seats.

When the bus finally stopped by Soi 6, I found it useful to get the driver or driver's assistant to point out where the Soi actually was in relation to the bus so I knew which direction to walk in. Going in the right direction meant that Soi 6 was the first side road I came to.

Keeping to the left at all times, I walked to the end of Soi 6 (about 1 minute) turned right at the end then kept going for about another minute or less.

There is a sign for the DIG - which, I seem to recall, is above head height on the left hand side of the road. The entrance for the hotel is on the left immediately after the sign.

I hope this helps.
