not sure on stars but many small hotels wont charge in phuket for guest, mainly big named hotels do.
the amari coral beach charges 1000b for a guest but that 5+star,

| I stayed at the Windsor Suites Hotel in BKK located near the Asok station Suhkumvit 22 I think. I know it's not Patong, but the area is good and the hotel is nice. I had a LB lover there no problem. |

Try the "Patong Inn" at beach road around the corner from bangla road. Nice rooms (last time i had a seaview room for 1300 Baht) and ladyboy-friendly.
I think they have a website. Try google. |

| After all I stayed at the end of last year at the Thara Patong. In generally there were no problems at all, however I had twice the problem of using the side entrance. The security guard refused to let us in, although we informed him that my company was officially registered to the room. He would not even radio the front desk to save us the walk around. |
