I checked asiarooms.com to book a room for my stay in november. I never had any problems to bring "friends" to my room at the president solitaire or at the other hotels of the "president group" (like grand president etc.).

Now i saw under "notes from the hotel" that they charge now a joiner fee of 350 Baht. Anyone knews anything about this?

Saw on the same website that centre point apartments now also charge a joiner fee of 1000 (!) Baht.

So i think i will stay somewhere else around sukhumvit (probably majestic grande).

The joiners fee is if you wake up in the middle of the night and feel the need for some woodwork or re-modelling of your room. You need a qualified joiner to assit you. Those heavy wooden wardrobes or wobbly tables need immediate attention.

Its a pity the hotels don't also offer a plumber.

350 baht is not bad for qualified joiner, I bet the plumber would be more expensive though.

They never charged joiner fee in Solitaire and I think its not true right now, only ID left with the security is enough.

That is a typical issue with asiarooms, a similar problem is their differentiated pricing for single/double occupancy.
Only advantage from this asiarooms info is that, if they explicitly list a room with joiners allowed, you can be sure the hotel is gf.

Book direct with the hotel and you will not have any problems.
By the way, perhaps a cost reducing alternative: I also booked GP via expedia and did not have any problems.
