Here's some great tips for visitors to LOS courtesy of BM Molk:
1. I forget about nature/beaches while in Pattaya. I have always planned to do that afterwards anyway (at sooo much better locations) so I have no problem just looking at concrete and neon during my (normally rather short) stays. If you miss Pattaya you can always go back cheap&fast, the highly developed infrastructure is one of the best things with Thailand.
2. Room. Good to have close to your main drinking hole. Before going out, take a look around your room and check that all you will not need is safely locked up in the room (or better, reception) -safe. You will not be in a position to make a sane judgement later on, trust me heh. E.g. if you have an expensive electronic razor, do you really need to have that in plain view etc.
3. Going out. I need: Cash, maybe 5-7k tops (small change in one separate pocket that you can flash openly and slowly count when taking e.g. a motosai taxi or buying a drink, don't show the big money anywhere). Copy of passport incl. visa stamps and insurance letter in a water-proof plastic envelope, cheap Nokia GSM phone with thai SIM from e.g. 7/11, lube, condoms. Cheap (used) digital camera. Clean inexpensive clothes, preferably bought in LOS, and good quality "hiking-type" sandals without socks , preferably bought outside LOS in your home country. Those slippery, dark and uneven pavements have been the downfall of many tourists, and although nurses are beautiful in LOS (I had a few) I prefer to try and stay out of hospitals.
Comments: thinking about watching your expensive belongings all the time is inversely related to relaxation & happiness for me. So I typically take with me what I can afford to lose. You may want to hand out contact info to girls but it is not smart to get 50+ SMSs to your *work/home* number daily from Thailand from a desperate girl. And what good will it do you to flash big money or jewelry to prostitutes? Nothing, better look that you're worth more alive (tourist customer, perhaps even repeat customer) than dead (robbery victim) I say.
I don't need when out partying: Jewelry. Wallet. Expensive electronics. Watch. Drugs other then the normal ones (up to you if you take the blue or red pill). Attitude (people & dogs WILL pick this up and may get very hostile really quick. And then you better run.). Expensive western clothes (people will take you for a dumb tourist and try to do you for various scams on the street). Russian accent or Indian looks while in an Aussie/English bar (conclusion from empirical studies).
4. ST-rooms. I can't understand that ppl lose valuables in ST-rooms. Take your pants with you while showering, afterwards throw them into a corner or onto a cupboard or similar **out of reach from the bed**. Ask girls if it is Ok to take photos and put up on ze Net.
5. Trust your instincts. If something feels wrong but you take a freelancer girl home with you anyway, it is a bad idea to accept a drink from her that could be spiced. Situation could have easily been avoided if you trusted your instincts at an earlier stage, however if you have no valuables in sight in your room you may be ok anyway.
6. Never do drugs. Never trust a fart in LOS. Always check girl's ID when in doubt (18 is the limit). And, never trust anything that I've told you in this thread.

Thanks to Kliome for taking the time to put together the "common questions asked by newcomers" post !
It's been long overdue, and despite a few of us discussing the concept for some time, its never been accomplished.
The reality is that all the answers have been in the forum all along, but even with a "search function" it can be difficult and time consuming to locate them all.
I'm sure this thread will be a great help to guys finding the forum for the first time, and planning either their first trip to Thailand or contemplating venturing over to the "Dark Side" as we like to call it.
BTW, I don't know another forum that provides so much information to its members, and is so accommodating to newbies !

Although I have been to LOS many times,I still consider myself to be a newbie,especially on the LB scene,as most of my trips have been with friends who are not aware of my true desires ( as i believe is similiar for many members of this forum).The information provided is not just useful,but almost like a gospel we can all refer to,and i am not trying to blow sunshine up your arse,as i dont even know you,but i think we (newbies,inexperienced lb hunters)should thank you for a reference point in our future adventures.
p.s is it only me,or does any think that in general lb's speak better english than gg.

hadn't thought about it before, but from my experience i'd say your right. The level of english in an lb bar is way ahead to that you'd find in most gg bars.....
