| I was hoping some of you who fly frequently from the UK could give so some advice about cheap flights. I paid £680 for my last ticket. Do any of you get there much cheaper? Where do you buy? |

From the UK - I have had flights as low as £370, but it all depends on the time of year and luck with promotions and stop overs.
My best tip is to use the search engine at http://www.flights4less.co.uk/
Make sure to tick the 'My dates are flexible' option.
when you have the best price and dates - I'd call a few of the cheaper uk flight agents like www.dialaflight.co.uk and www.southalltravel.co.uk and tell them the price and detials you found with flights4less. If they can beat it or match it, which they often can, then go with them if not take the original price.
Most of these travel agents work on commission so you can haggle with them and get it a little cheaper.
If you get the same price on one flights4less as you do with one of the phone travel agents I'd always go with the phone agents as the faceless sites like flights4less and lastminute.com (never use lastminute!) have terrible customer services.
If you are planning on a number of trips to LOS in the future (ie your addiction is growng) it's worth picking a cheaper airline like Etihad or Emirates or Air Jordan (Id' stronglly adivse going for Etihad) and join their frequent flyers programme. You may have to pay a bit more for flights but you'd soon earn a free flight. |

I normally use lastminute.com and have found flights from £370 with royal jordanian and normally with emirates from about £450.

I just conducted a mini online survey using the above sites and a few more (expedia and opodo) looking for direct flights using test dates 1 May 2008 to 14 May 2008.
The consensus was that Eva Air offered the cheapest direct ticket (£445 on lastminute).
What surprised me was how much more expensive my previous favourite, Thai Air, was. Their whopping £700+ price tag for an economy class return was far more than the usually pricey BA and Quantas. Also, Thai Air were still more expensive even when using the 'flexible dates' search option. What's up with Thai Air?
I am now seriously considering Eva Air for my next booking. Does anyone have any recent personal experience of flying long haul with them? |

I have flown with Eva air a couple of times, and I highly recommend them. They actually have some good deals for the Spring at the moment, and I booked some flights with them for April.
The inflight enteratinment, food and service are all excellent, but the best thing is the leg room. they have one of the largest leg room spaces with economy.
They are often the cheapest for direct flights from UK, but it really depends on the season and promotions, as Thai Air and even British Arways occassional beat them. |

Thanks Westbam. I only investigated direct flights because I have a personal bias for flights without stopovers. But Redrock never stated any preference - just the cheapest - and indirect flights are the cheapest.
I would be interested to find out how much extra you and other indirect flyers would pay for a direct flight. I would think that an additional £20-£30 would tempt most people - but I am biased. |
