Stopped by for a bit at Toto&Lulu Beer Bar in Jomtien last night. It is located on what I think is Soi Whitehouse (fairly far down the Soi). It is the next Soi south of Soi 7 on beach road. It is a large bar about three shop houses wide. I was way back in a bar across the street and still couldn’t get the whole front of the bar in the picture. It’s closed in on three sides and dominated inside by three small bar size pool tables (20 baht per game). There are two very nice bars inside but they get little use. Most of the customers sit at tables just inside the bar or out on the sidewalk.
The bar has a mix of LBs and GGs. Last night I was not impressed with the selection of LBs. Only one that I thought was fairly good looking. I was told there were a total of five. I have seen better selections on other nights. Much like Sally’s, on Soi 5, there is an interesting mix of customers. There are guys just hanging out having a few beers, couples, expats and the working girls. Everything is low key and everyone seems to get along together.
Don’t have the scoop on ST rooms but there must be some close by if not on site. There are eight GG bars across the street, as well as some next door, so the area is very active. |

Thanks xyzzy
It's great to here some more reports and info about Jomtien, most of us are too lazy or illinformed to make the very short trip over there.
I think this and the info on Sally's will be enough to get a few more people to take a look.
Thanks |

Thanks its nice to hear a bit more about Jomtien , I'm guessing it would only cost about 200bht to get there? and would be worth a day trip for the beach and bars.
I've only got as far as the large Budha statue so far. |

| There are Baht buses that run there, most of them may try to charge you extra, but you still needn't pay more than 10bht for the journey. |

well..i think its only "half true"...normally FROM jomtien against pattaya..youre right..but i normally pays 20 (iam such a nice guy ) but if you jump in a baht bus in pattayayou normally have to tell them that you wants to go to jomtien...and then they ask for 100 baht...
but what the fuck....for the same trip in Denmark the price would be about 1000..
but i would never go to soi whitehouse myself... i know TOO many Danish people down there...and i dont want them to know about "my interests".. and i hate to travel about 10.000km to hear people speak my own langue...
but yes i do like the size and look of the bar... |

Damn ripped off again I took a bht bus from Pattaya to the statue but cant remember the cost . Then we were left without transport so the options were a bike or pickup . As my GG friend was dressed so nicely we got the pickup which cost 140 bht to the big shopping centre ( Big C ?) I was'nt worried about the cost as it was my last full day there but I guess you have to shop around .
The cost was about the same as a local bus here for two so nothing worth worrying about. |

To catch a baht bus to Jomtien Beach you can get on almost any baht bus going south if you are south of the the intersection of Pattaya Tai (South Road) and 2nd Road. Often they will be loading a bus to Jomtien just a little south of the southeast corner Pattaya Tai and 2nd Road. I usually go on down the street as most of the time it is faster to just flag down a bus than wait for the bus that is loading to fill up. But the day I took the pictures the bus waiting to load was long past me before another came along going my way. But it was still only a matter of minutes.
The only pitfall of just flagging a south bound baht bus is it might not go the direction you want. 2nd Road becomes Thapphraya Road when you get south of Pattaya Tai (South Road). About a dozen blocks south of South Road you come to the junction of Thapphraya Road and Pratumnak Road (spellings may differ on different maps). This junction is usually very obvious because of the traffic jam. You want to take a baht bus that is going to turn left on Thapphraya Road. To insure I will get on a bus going the proper direction, after I have flagged down the bus I then signal the driver by pointing down the road and left. He will stop if going the direction you indicate. If he is going to Pratumnak Road he will speed back up and pass on by.
It will be obvious when you have reached Jomtien Beach. The bus will make a sharp turn toward the beach and then a left on to Beach Road.
The 10 baht vs 20 fare thing has been discussed many times. I asked a driver the other day and he of course said 20 baht. I read a note on another forum indicating that Thais had been seen paying 10 baht which would seem to imply a farang should pay 20 baht. I usually just give them 20 baht. Up to you...
Getting back to Pattaya is no problem. Just flag down any bus going back the way you came. While I was told Sally’s is open until 2 AM, and would guess Toto&Lulu also stays open late but many of the small bars and shops start to close before or by midnight. I left Toto&Lulu one night, on my first visit to Jomtien, about 12:30 AM and was rather surprised to see most of Jomtien closed up for the night. I waited a few minutes before a baht bus came along. So unlike Pattaya things in Jomtien slow down much earlier.
BTW if you like to spend a lot of time at the beach you really should check out Jomtien. The beach is much nicer and the water much cleaner. I head that way when planning a day at the beach.
Phil Lander and Batman: If you ask a baht bus driver to take you somewhere specific they magically become a taxi instead of a baht bus. The charge is usually 100 baht and up for this exclusive service. |

| Thanks xyzzy , I will endeavour to make a day out of it and expect to pay the full whack as my LB friend wants to go with some of her friends . I hope its not just talk as I fancy going to the beach with some LB's for a laugh. |
