Hi guys
Planning to maybe try and arive in Thailand over new years.
Travel agents advice:Your going to be lucky to find a flight or it will cost too much.
Will be in Auckland around the end of the year- does any one know what airlines are worth a shot at leaving Auckland to Thailand?
I am even tossing up maybe going to Jakarta, not sure- trying to work out my best option.
May end up just waiting till Mid Jan just all up in the air. |

Probably your best bet shall be to look at the Auk-Syd-Bgk route and ask to have a more expensive ticket which is valid for 12 months. The cheaper tickets for any flights into Bangkok or Singapore from NZ or Aust have long since been sold out through to the end of January.
As I found out as far back as August when I first started looking, but happily and eventually now sorted. |

Did your agent actually look or was it just a casual question?
I've booked to HongKong from NZ this late before so would think there would be something available to Thailand indirectly at least if they look hard enough.
I booked this coming trip just a few weeks ago but as I'm coming through Sydney and Manila it was expensive but I still had a choice of dates. |

Phil they just said No, I went to another shop and got quoted very ludacris price for the trip.
Still looking on the net for flights, so hopefully I find something last minute. |

| If it works the same as flights form UK during this period, the only way you'll get a sensible price for a flight this late in the day would be by flying during Chirstmas Day or New Years Eve, even then you need a bit of luck. |

I'm paying a ludicris price $2500 NZD but since I'm going Wgtn , Sydney , Manila , Bangkok , Sydney , Wellington . I really can't see a cheaper way to visit both Manila and Thailand without doing long stopovers which I hate as its a waste of time.
Work wont usually approve Christmas leave before the begining of November so I'm really stuck for choice . I think next year I will work through the break and take a holiday either just before or just after Christmas.
Last visit where I travelled just to Thailand and back I paid $1500 but you can find lower fares than that usually. I only took that flight so I could fly with the wife on the way back.
I'm flying Christmas eve this time but have flown on Christmas day before , and as everydays Christmas when your in Asia it does not worry me too much. |

| Air Asia have just started flying to KL with connections to BKK and Phuket 4 times a week from the Gold Coast prices are pretty reasonable, |
