| I'm glad you pointed that out to us as I have never come across DRM before. I would'nt think it would be worth joining the site as much as I love Areeya. |

| I know from other video-pages, that protected their videos with DRM before, but later they all removed it again. I wouldnt join a page with DRM protection... you cannot watch those videos in your notebook, when u travel around, etc. |

Hi Candyman,
Replying your message of the same topic from the General Discussion section, I cancel my membership with them today because they seem do not allow member to download their video but instead pop up the window media player. I treat that as they only provide streamline video instead of video download.
I am TOTALLY disappointed with this site. |

sorry lb-69, but there's no difference between downloading and streaming with the drm: let's say that you're right and you can choose to download a video; once you have downloaded it, you have to be connected to the web to watch it, you can't copy the video to another drive and when the membership expires you will not be able to watch it anymore... just like in the case you choose to stream the video!
Webmasters used to protect the video with DRM a couple of years ago to make sure that guys would renew their membership; but when they realized that drm keep people away from their site, they removed the protection.

I was on the point of joining some days ago, but when I read about the drm I changed my mind. It's a pity. |

I am just telling the fact. I have paid my membership, tried the service and had the experience.
At first, when I click on the download button, a window pop up and allow me to download and save the video. Only when I play the downloaded file it will activate the DRM of WMP to do some validation.
After the DRM issue had been discussed in this forum and DRM can be cracked, the web master seemed changed its download policy.
Then when I click on the "Download" button, WMP popped up and gone through some authentication process, and then start to do buffering and play the video. I do not know how to save a video which WMP is playing, if you know, please shed some light on me.
I had sent a request to their help desk, and they told me to do right click and save as a file. I had tried, but I could not really save the video file but only some rubbish file, because the url of the "download" button is not pointing directly to the location of the video file, so you cannot really use the right click trick to download and save the file.
I am telling what I have experienced about this website, and I am disappointed with it. I didn't tell people not to join this site, people have their own mind and can judge on their own.
If the moderator thinks that I am telling a lie or critized without a point, then you are free to delete my message.
I won't participate in any further discussion regarding this thread. Full stop. |

Do you think that a video of Areeya in high definition will be published here, at lb-69, without the drm? |
