Hey,
Basically I am living in London and looking for a diving buddy to go to Thailand with next year. I am 29 and ideally looking for a mate someone my own age.

There are a few of us around the same age from the UK on this board, but I don't know of anyone that interetsed in diving, the LBs and nightlife seem to take up all our time.
I took the 1st stage padi open water in Koh Tao, I didn't really enjoy it and quit after the first day; for one I can barely swim (I was taking the course to impress a girl) and I didn't like the fact our first dive was on 'shark' bay. I'll stick to the aquariums.
You probably have all your diving info sorted, I have a friend who knows the best companies and bays. They have diving in Pattaya and nearby, but from the advice I was given Koh Tao and the Samui Islands have some of the best diving and courses in the world. |

| kliome - thanks, did my padi open water on Sumui about 3 months ago and obvioulsy the LB scene is a bit crap, plus my mate isnt aware of my interest. Looking to go back next year but dont particularly want to hang around on my own, looking for a wingman to explorer both the nightlife and the underwater life with. If you know anyone in the UK who is looking for a diving buddy give me a shout! |

I'm a Master Scuba Diver, cave and cavern diver, etc., and have spent many years diving out of Thailand.
Day trips are ideal for bar cruising at night, but if you want great diving, the liveaboards are the way to go, and it is possible to take non-diving companions withy you.
However, some of the diving is not for newbies, an Advanced certification is required, plus some experience with currents and rougher seas.
Great diving may be found out at:
Similan and Surin Islands - off Phuket
Burma Banks - Shark City
Mergui - Myanmar
Andaman
Local diving at Koh Phi Phi and Koh Larn
Pattaya side - not so good, you need to go a fair way out of Pattaya for it
Samui - some good spots there.
Have a look at some of the websites of the specialist dive operators in Thailand, and other resources, such as Asian Diver. |
