many of us on here would love to stay in thailand, i would.
but apart from throwing money at a bar does anyone have any good ideas as how to earn at least 50.000.00 baht a month?
i think most could survive on this.

Before u can do i just want ask u something u sure about a bar ?
And can u get a visa for longstay?
If your purpose of visiting Thailand is other than tourism you must be in possession of a valid Non-Immigrant Visa before you enter Thailand.
The Non-Immigrant Visa can be granted for the following purposes of visit:-
Category “B” conduct business as employee of non Thai company or to work for Thai company
Category “O” visit friends/family, for extended stay in Thailand, visit as UK pensioner, to work as a
volunteer, and to seek work/employment. This category does not allow paid or unpaid employment without work permit
The Non-Immigrant Visa is available with a single entry or with multiple entries - there is nothing between these two options. The single entry visa has a validity of three months from date of issue. The multiple entry visa has a validity of twelve months from date of issue. On arrival in Thailand each entry allows a stay of maximum 90 days
It is quite Easy to get a Multiple entry Non-Immigrant Visa if u a uk resident and have some sort of conection to thailand ie married
to thai lady or suporting or visiting a thai citizen
As for the 50000bth is more than enough but it depend on u lifestyle i have done this before stevie and if u need info send me email hope this helps |

If you hold a degree teaching is an option. Especially if you hold business qualifications. Teaching business english to large companies can get ok money. But to reach 50k per m you would probably need to do some extra lessons. And it would be in Bkk and not patts
Just english teaching in schools isnt great money. |

thanks for reply guys.
bar is something im not happy about but the staff salerys are low so as long as selling the beer not much income there. a guest house is to much of a layout to start with. my plans are to have maybe 2yr stay at first, if content at the end maybe stay permament or within the guide lines of visa's.
but nice to get feed back.

I also belive there is a type of tefel course u can do which includes the whole package including a diploma/degree in teaching english to foreign students i think it takes around a year can do online and
they place u in a job once u pass but u have no choice where to go in thailand and u have to pay u own airfair etc some will pay airfare depends on company it the only jobs they give to frang unless u own a company which make lot of money because there certain jobs a frang cannot do and it pretty much covers everything
and depends on u level of skill in employment.
I worked in thailand for around a year through a big hotels chain because i am a chef and they are in big demand in thailand as long u have u up to level 3 nvq in cheffing, shouldent be a problem to find work it easy it beter than teaching english can get about 30000-44000bht which is enough money if u cut the nightlife and live simple |

Ha Ha Ha, I couldn't have said it better myself, Batman.
Thank you Gareth for not teaching english in LOS. Could you imagine an entire generation of Thai's learning G-speak??

Another option is the one I'm attempting to do...
Work hard in the western world and put your money by for an early retirement in LOS.
One years hard work (inc. 2 trips per year) is easily worth 4 to 5 years in Thailand. |

DC, that is sort of my plan, although I'm not sure I want to wait until I fully "retire" to execute it.
For me, I'm in discussions with two major Thai university's to spend a year there teaching and conducting my research (I'm a physics professor in the US). If all this comes to fruition, I'll work and live in LOS for a year, and that will give me a good feel for whether or not I want to "retire" there (besides, I have quite a while before I have to think about that, and I love what I do).
Unfortunately, neither of them are in Pattaya, so that would be a weekend playground.
At the very minimum, should this option not work out, I'll take my next sabbatical year and spend it in LOS on a tourist visa (popping in and out every 89 days).
One can never plan to much for your future in paradise!!
