Don't confuse Thai names with Thai nicknames. Many take or are given by their families a small nickname such as Nood, Pook, Lek, etc., to avoid having the evil spirits paying too much attention to them when they are cute babies, and the names stick through life. Some of the names the GGs and LBs use are often wordplays on their original Thai nickname, though of course many are just pure attention getters.
