Thanks for all the great information on hotels here. I am someone who can not sleep very easily. I need complete silence in order to do so. This means no traffic noise from the outside or horns honking, and no neighbors above or next to your room pounding or making noise. What hotel (if any) would you suggest that is closest to Nana Plaza, which fits this description? Even if its got to be a top floor room in a fairly tall building. Proximity to Nana being the most important factor aside from quiet.

Thanks!

I stayed in the Dynasty Inn and found it reasonably quiet , but the building did shake quite abit about 4pm but dont know why. Confused
It was only a three minute walk to Nana. Cool

Thanks. Im considering the Landmark, but its no cheaper than the United States.

I honestly would prefer to spend $40 a night for "luxury" hotels like I have always heard about Bangkok, but I am not seeing such hotels. I see kinda crappy hotels for $40 .... and I anticipate not being able to sleep too well in them.

Am I wrong about this?

I have always been told "Oh man Bangkok is SO CHEAP you can get 4 and 5 star hotel rooms for under $70, its awesome!"

Doesn't seem to be true...

Majestic Grande might do the trick Very Happy

Stayed there myself before and really nice hotel (and quiet) . 100 metres (or so) from Nana.

I don't think I've ever heard a bad review. Although I don't know their policy on "guests".

Majestic Grande certainly guest / ladyboy friendly, and a fairly popular choice amongst mongers.

I just booked the Dynasty Inn Grande again a few minutes ago.

With the current exchange rates, the back rooms equate to $86 USD

With the US dollar weakening, and prices in BKK rising, there is a bit of a double whammy effect on pricing, but still pretty good value considering the location and quality of the rooms.

Cheers

Not Now, But.......
A couple of years ago when DIG first opened the rooms were 1850 Baht per night, which back then equated to around $46.00.
Now of course they are nearly twice that price Shocked

Okay the fish and chips meal here is nearly $10 (Dynasty Inn Grande). The room is nearly $90 a night. (USD)

The front lobby is so small that the whole staff peers at you when you enter with someone.

Zero privacy. Pretty much eliminates the chance I will ever bring a ladyboy back here.

My goal this week is to find a place I can stay for dirt cheap, and still get good sleep (quiet).

Still welcoming any suggestions. I tried the Landmark but they are booked solid apparently this week.

for me one thing solves all those problems, noise and the privacy thing.. get drunk and sleep like a baby and also when your drunk you could care less what others think if your with a LB. I only went to nana plaza one time as im a pattaya veteran, but there are a lot of places you can get rooms just up from nana plaza on the left side, i got one for around 800b a night.. was small but got the job done.

I stay at the Grand Business Inn on Sukhumvit Soi 11. Standard room is 1600 Baht (about 50 USD now). If you ask for a room in the back part of the hotel, away from Soi 11, they are fairly quiet, especially on the higher floors. Not complete silence, but then you can buy earplugs for that! Very Happy

The rooms are good sized, full bath tub with shower, 25" flat screen Sony TVs with DVD player, hot pot, minifridge, guest friendly, fast internet connection in room (by network port), free wifi in lobby and restaurant, free internet on lobby computers for hotel guests. I posted the link in the Bangkok hotel thread.

Recoil - Dont get me wrong - Dynasty Inn Grande is awesome. Its super clean, has spotless contemporary rooms, and the bed is very comfortable.

I am just looking at a potential 2-3 week stay here so Im looking for something a little cheaper. DIG is $89 a night now or so, and that's going to add up fast. Great hotel though.

Ill check out the suggestions above, thanks!

What about looking to rent a condo - maybe monthly rate.

You may even find a 3 month rental works out cheaper than an upmarket hotel. Just a thought
