Lucky me I seem to have scored an unplanned trip to Thailand for 8 nights
The bad new is that I'm going to be on a tight budget. Looks as though the LEK will do the trick. I was wondering what the budget rooms (Aus$21) are like. No doubt the more expensive rooms are better but as long as the cheaper one's are clean have a reasonable bathroom and clean sheets it's fine by me.
Any recent reports?

I stayed in the Lek about 2 years ago, it's a nice hotel, guest friendly, with reasonably friendly staff, but the food can be a bit dodgy.
The budget rooms are a completely different world to the other rooms, hence the fact they are so much cheaper. They are basically the rooms in the front wing (facing 2nd road). They looked a little bit shitty back then so I wouldn't be in a rush to go back again now. The problem is that the rest of the hotel seems about 3 stars better than the budget rooms, so it rubs it in your face a bit.
They aren't the worst rooms in Pattaya but I'm sure you can get a nicer room for less.
How much are you paying for the room in baht?
The budget rooms were about 800bht back then. |

Check out Jasmine Hotel, a favourite of many board members, at 600baht (AUD 20.50) they are good value, basic but clean.
The position, just off walking street is pretty good too. |

Thanks about the Jasmine.
Looks o.k but no pool. I heard that Lek has a nice pool area and that's important.

If you want to stay at the jasmin take a room without a balcony.
I stayed there 2 months ago and somebody broke into my room via the balcony door and stole my camera and some other small things. Its not nice to come back to your room with a "new friend "and see that all your things are all over the floor.
I will stay at a different hotel next time. |

Well I ended up booking at the LEK for 850 a night. Seeing on my tight budget that saves me a almost 3,000 baht.
And let's face it you can have a hell of a lot of fun in Pattaya with 3,000 baht

Well just back and stayed in he 850 a night room and no problem at all
O.K so it wasn't the Hilton and the paint was worn and the blanket had a few patches. But the sheets where clean and got changed everyday.
I was on the 5th floor and apart from the odd beep the traffic noise was fine. Had an old fashioned air conditioner that actually managed to keep the room nice and cool and night.
LEK though must have the cheapest bar fridge I've ever seen and the room service was cheap as well without any service charge. Pool was nice and cheap drinks there as well.
All in all bloody good for someone on a real tight budget. |
