Admittedly i haven't been to C&D for a couple of years but prior that it was four years in succession and i have always had a great time at this bar, when it was under Tiger and it's new location and Nick the previous owner was a good guy and an excellent host and i'll definitely be going back this year thanks to Jimbo

Oh dear. I had hoped you would just have your say vangough and then go away, but you seem determined to besmirch the good name of C & D. You obviously have an axe to grind; perhaps because you (and 3 friends -ffs) were not succesful in buying a share? In any case i dont really want a public arguement here, as its an otherwise very good-natured site. perhaps it would be better if you shut up and PLEASE stay away from C & D if it isnt your style. Stick to the yabba-heads in Crocodile and the freelance loonies in soi Bangla.

Now who's quick to judge? You certainly know nothing about me, so I'll take your nasty remarks as nothing more than a person who obviously wasn't loved enough as a child and feels the need to lash out at strangers. Your problem, not mine, as I get along with everyone.

Here are the FACTS (that you LOVE to deal in):

You didn't make it clear from your post that you had been in C&D in the past 4 weeks (nor since Jimbo took it over). How were we supposed to gleen that little gem? Are we to assume that because you have been coming to thailand since 1975 that you would have been in C&D recently?

That being said, I retract my statement about "paying it a visit and then reporting back."

You don't like C&D. Fine, we get it. No need to belabor the point.

It's no Guess Bar (but then again, what is? Guess is in a bit of a league of it's own, in my opinion...yikes we agree on something).

BTW, you were the one who made the Guess Bar reference, not I, so I couldn't possibly be delusional on the matter (once again, a totally baseless statement)

As to the financial viability of LB bars in Phuket (or anywhere in Thailand), particularly when being run by farangs, I agree there is an unusually high rate of failure. Actually, it's really not so unusual given the operating environment, but that's a different subject for a different day. I wouldn't do it, but then again, I have better places to put my money that better suit my financial risk tolerance.

Lastly, by very my public response to you, i am exercising my right of free speech (the very thing you accuse me of trying to deny).

The only negative thing I said about your post was "it sounds like you have an ax to grind" and "I don't believe what you're doing is in the spirit of fair play by condemning the new C&D without having paid it a visit." I already retracted my last statement about your C&D visit.

Neither statements were "attacks" on you personally, nor was I insulting or demeaning (unlike your defensive and some what immature response).

I'm happy you have some validation from the 12 board members who PM'd you about their agreement with you. It's always nice to have validation, especially when one requires it from strangers.

I have a life (quite a nice one actually) and wish you all the best and for christ sakes get some fiber in your diet. It will help make you feel better. Twisted Evil

Guys, good replies to vangough05, he has revealed his "superior" attitude on other posts, and also had a major dispute with the owner of another forum in the past.

As for C&D, I haven't been there for a while as I last visited Phuket in 2006. No postops at the time I visited but was nice to catch the cabaret show and chat with the ladies!

i think people has to realise...that CD is not an "intimate" LB-bar...its a mix between a cabaret and a bar.... Cool

so if anybody (especially US with a certain interest in LB`s ) is expecting a bar same type as Guess-la bamba-Lita`s (RIP Crying or Very sad

) they will get dissapointed.... Exclamation

i was there every day for a week...just around when jimbo took over...and yes...at that time there WAS a big hassle for drinks from the girls....and especially from that ugly mamasan at that time... Confused

but according to the reports from people i thrust...it seems to go into the right direction... Wink

i DO think that the "accustic" of the bar is shit...but realise that it has to be this way as long as its also a cabaret...and i think that they have to consider to make money all year...and a fair ammount of them comes from the tourist`s that just wanna see "the creatures".. Rolling Eyes

but again..i have to live with that if that whats it takes...rather that...than no LB`bar in phuket... Wink

personaly...i would like them to dimp the light...buy some couches/sofa`s, play soft music, and stop the cabaret...but i dont think the "all year market" for LB`lovers are big enough for that... Confused

i had a "problem" ONE time last year in CD....( she went PMS for for 30 min. walked out of me...)(i had payed the BF for 7 days)i actually didnt complain...but was just laughing to Jimbo...cause i know for sure she would be back soon....

but Jimbo DIDNT hesitate for a second...even he didnt know me a the time...he gave me the barfine back rigth on the spot...well as i thought she went back half an hour later..(at this time i think Jimbo has left) so we went of....so i still owe him a BF.... Cool

and i am lucky to have meet him after in PTY.... Wink

Thanks for that Batman. Your criticisms are constructive, justified and in the right spirit of this forum, rather than vangough who just badmouthed the whole operation.
Luckily, you and most others on here understand that Phuket is a family destination, and we have to attract that crowd to make it pay. Also, we`re in a quiet soi, and have to give people some reason to come down it. Hence the cabaret, which most LB hunters dont really give a damn about.
Yes the place is a bit warehousey which doesnt help the acoustics.No, there isnt a clubby atmosphere (like Guess bar) but we have to get a volume of traffic to make it pay. having 6 or 7 mongers in at a time doesnt pay the rent. At this time of year we have 60-70 bins per night, which is approx 100 people, 10 - 15 barfines, and 50 - 70 lady drinks. Most bars would be leaping with joy at that volume, but here its only sufficient to provide the 2 of us with a decent living. This aint no Microsoft enterprise!
It may be that at the end of this month there will be some significant developments that will enable us to create a more pubby feel to the place. I cant really say any more about that at this stage.
You`ll be relieved to know Batman that the old mamasan has gone and the new one is more customer aware.

BTW, Tootsies is an upmarket massage parlour. I like the VIP service - the "barfine " for that is 2000 Baht ! lol
