I am editing out my original post, as I did some more research and found people commenting that this topic has already been beat to death. Apparently its called the "walk of shame". Appropriate name.
So Ive deleted my original question. I did want to ask though - is it a policy in Thailand to stop a girl before she hits the elevator, and ask her who she is there to see?
I could see someone avoiding the walk of shame altogether by simply going up to their room and having her come up 5-10 mins later.
I did this successfully in Manila, but the girls were still stopped by front lobby staff and they called my room to ask me if she could come up.
Thanks. |

I think its required by law that they make sure the girl is over 18 and unless they know the girl or LB she will have to leave her ID at reception.
I had one GG for a few days who did not have to show her ID ever as she was well known to the staff. |

Its not required by the law.
Its up to the hotel if they let the girl go inside and if she has to show a id card.
Lots of infos about ladyboyfriendly hotels on this website, SeekingInfo! |

Actually having the hotel copy the ID of your guest is a good idea. There are cases where the customer is drugged and robbed, or had things stolen and having a copy of her ID is a one way to help the police track her down (if it was her real ID). In addition, the hotel might (I repeat might) warn you if she is under 18 years of age - the older ID cards are all in Thai so you can't figure out how old she is.
If you take a freelancer (not from a bar) this is especially important.
So, while you think it may not be any of their business, it is insurance for you in case something goes wrong. |

Yes this can be important. Especially when the girl notice that they copy the id card. |

Privacy is a non issue if you simply use the short time rooms apparently. Im learning the ropes here. Thanks for putting up with the questions.
Now I just need to find a cheaper place to stay than Dynasty Inn Grande, with equally comfortable beds. Hmmm.... |
