Good win over the Bubble & Squeaks but oh my god what a dire match And when you consider that half of that Swedish team have proved to be not good enough for the Premier League, is it any wonder
However, a win is a win so good luck to Sweden & hopefully they shall beat Russia in order to progress to the last 16 then anything can happen in the knock out stages especially against the ageing Frogs or shambolic Italians. |

Haha
But...?? So why isnīt England in the euro cup? Premier League is played in England , no?
Hmmm, so half of the swedish team arenīt good enought to play in the league in the country that couldnīt qualify into Euro cup...
I guess thatīs because/the reason teams like Arsenal only have foreigners playing for them, the english players arenīt good enough for Premier League. Makes sense then England not playing Euro cup.
Dull game yes, but not as bad as France-Romania.
But its fun that we are playing Euro Cup |

That's exactly right and teams like Arsenal, Liverpool & Chelski all had non British management structures in place who are not concerned with the English, Scots, Irish or Welsh national teams.
However, the pressure on them for success in the Premier League and Europe is immense, so it is not difficult to see why they field teams which could represent the Rest of the World as opposed to GB.
It is interesting to note that Inter Milan (Italian Champions) adopted a similar policy and yet they were managed by an Italian.
How many of that your national team play their football in the Swedish League Sev7en |

2 or 3.
Anders Svensson. ex. Coventry and both our sub. goalies. Both have played abroad.
I think every player in our squad could play in PL, but some are playing in Italy and Spain which are both better leagues then PL.
Please explain how a team(SWE) can play in the EuroCup if half their squad are not good enough for the league in which country (ENG) who failed to play EuroCup? I canīt get that together.
Is your point english players arenīt good enough for EuroCup and you fill your teams with foreigners so you can do well in the international cups? |

My prediction after the first games of the first round:
Last 8: Sweden, Spain, Netherlands, France, Germany, Croatia, Portugal, Czech Rep.
Last 4: Portugal, Germany, Netherlands, France
Final: Germany, Netherlands |

Yes, I meant last 8
Sev7en
Of course that's my point, not enough English players are considered good enough to play for the top four Premier League teams by their foreign managers. Then those who are, do not seem to be compatible with each other (Lampard & Gerrard)
A couple of those Swedish players were in a lak lustre Southampton team who were relegated a couple of years back, except for Ibrahimovic & possibly Mellberg (ok perhaps not) none would be good enough for the top EPL sides, although those who were recently promoted like Hull City would probably give them a run out.
Your point about the Italian and Spainish leagues being better than the top flight in England is incredibly wide of the mark at the moment, over the last two years EPL sides have provided 6 of the 8 Champions League semi finalists And yes, both of this years finalists.
Of course the English side should have qualified for this tournament especially when you consider the position they held going into their last qualifier at home to only a useful Croatian team however, they blew it and I would like to think that gave them a much deserved kick up the arse because both Croatia and Russia wanted to compete in this competition much more than England demonstrated both on that plastic pitch in Moscow and the November rainy night in London. |

Not Larsson? Freddie?
Heh, i knew so well that you would bring up EPL. Sure, many "english" teams has done well lately, but as we agree on, these team has mostly foreigners playing for them..
Well, sacking Ericsson and bring in McLaren was another very bad decision like FA has done so many times. Look what McLaren
accomplished.
PT, i know i canīt "win" this discussion. I just donīt think England is the greatest football nation ever, like many of your fellow countrymen are convinced of. |

Greatest football nation ever Show me an English man who believes that and I'll show you a stupid fool
We are not even in the top four, although perhaps a candidate for the fifth spot with France but Brazil, Germany, Italy and Argentina are certainly the top four greatest football nations in terms of achievements by their national side.
I suppose Sven had to go after those performances in Germany eventhough England only went out on penalties to Portugal and yes his replacement was a shocker.
Henrik Larsoon has been a sensational player although at 36, I'm surprised he is still in the Sweden starting XI indeed, Man Utd declined his services for another loan this past season and I doubt Freddie Ljunberg would be a regular at either of the top four anymore, as good a player as he is.
Anyway, moving on to todays matches.
I'm backing Portugal to beat Czech Rep by two clear goals (perhaps 3-1) and Switzerland to gain a narrow 1-0 over Turkey. |

Neither spain, portugal or holland will be in the semis, maybe quarters.
Sweden-Germany, and Italy-France |
