Just to give some general guidance about wage levels in comparison to the 20k "allowance" :
1) civil service salaries are far below those in private enterprises:
professor (PhD) at one of the BKK universities 20k (2006)
2) clerk in logistics dept. of a automobile producer near the eastern seaboard:
12 k, additional 5-7 monthly salaries as yearly bonus, enough to build her own house with nice garden
3) waitress BKK 7k
4) sales clerk in Isaan, 11 hrs daily, 2 days off per month: 5k |

One example of one i know: Thai teacher earns 8k a month and then another 8 for doing grinds. With this she had her own appartment (4k per month) and bought fuck loads of clothes and was constantly entertained. She saved about 6k a month. But she didnt drink.  This was in Patts. |

god, those go-go dancers and ladyboys make lot of money.
the whole salary of listed people just in one night.
and they are still complaining that 1k baht is cheap for ST. |

Well, concerning the lb's:
- Operations
- Hormones
I must confess, I got no idea how much to pay for that in LOS.
And always keep in mind, most of them (99% ?!) sent money home and a whole family is living from that.
Nevertheless, compared to people with "good" jobs they make a shitload of money. Getting pounded their ass for 1h during a ST and make 1000 baht... yeah, that's too much.
Not to forget: Only the real good looking ones can make a lot of money. I've seen so many gogo girls that score 1/10 on my scale, I wonder if anyone takes them ST at all. |

 maybe they have a good heart and are unbelievable in bed.

| The Op wasn't clear as to the reason behind his generosity - if it's just to help out a friend with day to day expenses am sure 5k is fine - if it's to keep someone out of the bars I'm guessing it's going to take a lot more. |
