I am very interested where we, as community, are with the posting of photo's on the LB-69 forum, and if our collective brain can come up with a solution. For me, obviously, the photo's linked to trip report, venues, galleries etc. are a main reason to go to the forum. Maybe it isnt an issue anymore...
Facts:
(1) Some of us are concerned with other 'stealing' their photos and publishing it elsewhere not accrediting the photographer. This could be for personal gain, commercial purposes or promotional purposes.
(2) Some of us are concerned with others showing photo's posted by photographers to LB's in the hope to impact negatively the relationship between photographer and LB.
I belong to both categories, although leaning more toward (1) as I have never posted explicit (pornographic) materials and only had to deal with (2) because of personal reasoning (I am assuming). I am unfortunately not planning to post any photos in 2010 until there is a solution for safely posting photos.
My thoughts on (1) are:
(a) Very clear and transparent privacy, terms and copyright/ip policy upon signing up to the forum. (see e.g. mainstream photo sharing sites).
(b) Automatic generated LB-69 copyright statements on photo's (see e.g. dating sites). LB-69 needs to protect us. In 2009 we saw many BM's starting themselves to Copyright there photos. Law in most countries states that the copyright remains with the photographer but through a license agreement added to (a). Reference: http://creativecommons.org/about/licenses/. Creative Commons has done some ground-breaking work in the field of digital copyright management. Provided the right license is offered, this makes sense, the photographer licenses LB-69 to publish the photo's for non-commercial purposes (i.e. here on the forum) and for promotional purposes but not for commercial purposes nor is the original material allowed to be changed in any way.
(c) Automatic watermarking for search and find on the web
(d) Embedding a smart photo viewer. Something like the "Simple Viewer" application, it's free, does require change to the forum back-end but that is an open source application anyway). When I post photo's to my post, automatically a Flash photo viewer is added in which the photo(s) are loaded for that particular post. You dont have multiple photo's per post just on gallery of all photo's belonging to that post. Using this approach, people won't be able to 'save as,' as a way to 'steal' the image, only way is by screen shot, which I there is a means to 'black out' the screen capture when a user tries.
Some other thoughts related to this. Add an embedd and/or social bookmarking functionality to the viewer so you are allowing people to post the content on other locations for promotional purposes, but it will be conditioned under (a) and (b) and LB-69 will have transperancy as to locations. You may have issues because of the width boundaries you have set for the forum due to the top nav interface. Then again why not just approach like on shemale.asia, i.e. seperate the forum from LB-69.com.
Not sure about point (2). The best example is StevieP. Which has been discussed on other threads on the forum. I don't think a VIP vs. Free section provides a solution.
LB-69, depending on the feedback you get from BM's in this thread, please consider this to put top on your dev. list for the forum a solution for posting pictures 'safely.' I strongly believe that the first forum to come up with such solution will have a competitive advantage and retain and attract many users, potential customers for you.
Any other thoughts? |

Personally knowing steviep and what has happened to him with someone taking photo's off this site and making up a bullshit blog.
I wont be posting photo's of a up coming trip or posting a report.
Shame really as this is where i got all my info from and the girls i wanted to meet and place's i wanted to visit.
If there was a option of the pics been securely posted so others couldnt lift them, then i might changed my mind.

Is this issue specific to this forum or to the internet in general???
I think there's a big difference between posting up pics and posting up revealing pics of yourself. You should always be careful or what you post (pics and text) on the open world wide web.
If you are worried about your identity DON'T post priavte info and don't post pictures of yourself.
If you feel your photos have commercial value then DON'T post them on a free forum - sell them!
If you are concerned that you may upset someone by posting their pics without permission, DON'T post them on the open world wide web - or better still, ask permission to post the pics when taking them..
It's very simple guys. The rules haven't changed, and there have been no breaches of security. Just use you head and you should be OK. |

I'll be posting and writing a TR for up upcoming Feb trip and will continue to support LB69 as much as I can in future.
The number of hits on threads with even the most innocent of pics and the interest shown in all the TR's by member and lurkers on the board shows a way for us to give back to the community who gave us the information to head out to Thailand for that first trip.
If that means more subs to the pay side of the site then well and good. |

hmmm i think i have posted about 1000 pics so far....and i proberly will post 600 more this year...
most of the pics posted here...are of girls from the bars...non-nude and quite decent...so whats the fuss about??
iam so happy that my photo-skills are limitted...so iam not afraid if someone "lift" a photo of mine from here so agree with Kliome here...if you think your photos are so damn precious...then sell them...

I will continue to post trip reports with photos. If the photos are nude, I will ask permission from the girls. If the girls express a clear restriction on posting them, I will respect it.
I suppose that with Boarhog, Batman, OTS, and BB, I am one of the most active photo posters here. |

Don't forget, we have experienced refugee forum posters from "Those We Don't Speak Of"
... and CL seems to be liking it over here so far |

Yes, I will post photos. More to wind up Dixon and Anthony than anything.
I agree with Kliome for the most part. I like the fact that we can edit our own posts and remove phtos if necessary. Also knowing LB69 policy on removing photos or threads on request gives me even more peace of mind. All this for free versus a pay site that was marketed as being more secure that won't honour the same requests.
I welcome the pay site refugees. Why on earth would they give their credit card details to someone who won't honour their word when it comes to deleting their photos/threads? |

I guess I have a slightly different take on this guys.
1. I don't like the idea that someone would "steal" my photos, but if they do... who really cares? It's not like I planned to publish a book or make limited edition lithos and they've now stolen my thunder. I put the pics up because I want others to see them. If others see them and someone else gets credit for them that's not my favored method of distribution, but why should I get my panties so into a bunch that I wouldn't post them at all? That just makes no sense to me. That's like being so afraid you'll get ripped off that you never take any money out of the bank.
The pictures are to be enjoyed and if someone enjoys them without me getting credit, so be it. If I SEE that someone's stolen my pics and taken credit, I'll just jack their thread and point it out! I got a really nice PM from Boarhog just yesterday after I inadvertently used a couple of his pics of the beautiful "Top" from Guess Bar. (The pics were so great I guess I assumed they were mine. That's a joke and a compliment BH!) Any way, once I realized my error we took care of it.
And in those cases where unauthorized folks use them for their benefit without crediting me... dang. Not cool. But worth getting all twisted about, even to the point of "I'm not posting pics anymore!".... ???? I just don't get that.
2. This whole thing about girls having access to the pictures, or "heroes" showing them our pictures? Again, not really an issue. This is completely a "tempest in a teapot" cooked up by another board as a way to extort money from punters, and also a way for girls to badger some mongers for extra money. I'd like to see one of them try it with one of the guys with a spine, like DoneyKey! I bet they'd stop yammering very quickly. I hope I'm not putting words into his mouth, but I thought he was one of the first guys to say what I was thinking, which is "If you don't want to have nude pics of yourself on the internet, don't take any nude pictures!" It really can be that simple.
Anyway, I just think this whole thing is nonsense. It's like the crap my mom worries about because she has too much time on her hands.
Get busy mongering, taking pictures, posting pictures, and making more money for mongering. Spend less time worrying about what some asshole does with your pictures, or what some stupid bargirl tries to pull on one of our more passive pals.
Just my opinions, obviously! |
